Why the desert? It is the surprises that keep pulling me back to the desert: the hot spring bubbling up through the desert floor. It is the walk up the dry canyon to suddenly see a waterfall with lush cattails surrounding the pool below. It is the clear sky and the beautiful stars at night; the surprising animals defying the desert's poor vegetation and mostly lack of water. It is the array of colors and the sudden change of topography. It is beautiful.
